How to Create A Functional & Organized Kitchen

August 08, 2019

Have a place for everything – and everything in its place.  No matter the size or layout of a kitchen, there are plenty of tips you can utilize to keep it functional and organized.

Drawer organizers. Use these compartmental organizers to create a drawer that makes it easier to find utensils and the other little odds and ends that end up in drawers.

Appliance garages.  Hide small appliances, but keep them within reach!  Don’t clutter up countertops with lots of appliances sitting out.  Appliance garages are great because they have rollup fronts that can keep appliances out of sight but easy to quickly pull out when you need them.

Pull out garbage and recycling bins.  A separate pull out drawer (usually beside the sink, in an easy to get to spot in the kitchen) is the best way to store your trash.   This frees up floor space that most unsightly garbage cans would take up and makes your kitchen appear neater.

Wall storage.  Not talking about cabinets, but rather hooks, shelves and even baskets that hang from rods.  This is where you can make functional kitchen items look like they’re on display, and easily within arms reach when you’re cooking.  Hooks underneath cabinets can also be useful for hanging mugs and other items and keeping your countertops clear.

Lazy susans.  These work great in those large corner cabinets!  Organize canned food, oils, baking supplies, or even heavy duty pots and pans.
