Don’t have much of a green thumb, or don’t want to spend countless hours taking care of your shrubs? Try these!
Witch Hazel – flowers bloom in early spring, only light pruning necessary.
Forsythia – a bright beautiful yellow pop of color that is also an early bloomer. Prune once a year after it has finished blooming.
Lilac – purple flowers with a lovely scent that’s easy to grow.
Oakleaf Hydrangea – colorful blooms during the warmer months, then leaves turn fall shades of red and orange.
Holly – evergreen with bright berries in winter, offers year-round curb appeal. Prune to keep it shaped up.
Mondo Grass – a low ornamental grass that will grow anywhere you plant it. Bonus that it’s deer and rabbit resistant!
Monkey Grass – another ornamental grass that includes purple or white flowers in late summer. Evergreen for year-round appeal.
Blue Mist Spirea – resistant to heat, drought, and deer! Hardy plant that tolerates full sun or partial shade. Low maintenance with blue flowers in summer. Just a little pruning required.
Gold Thread Cypress – low maintenance shrub that adds a beautiful pop of color all year long since it’s an evergreen. Slow growing and compact, making it easy to maintain.
Barberry – a great shrub for a hedge that requires just a little pruning. Stunning deep red color!
