Weed killer and cutting the grass in March!

March 07, 2019

As you can probably guess, I live in one of the Southern States. Last weekend I mowed my yard!

Yes, March and I was pushing around that wonderful grass mulching machine.

While doing so, I noticed that there were some vines on my garage that have not yet started to grow again.  My first thought was to spray these pesky vines with Round up. Then I wondered if there is a more natural way of ridding my yard of these unwanted guests.

Turns out that there are some videos on how to mix up white vinegar, Epsom salt and dish soap to create a less hazardous form of weed killer.

Being curious, I also wanted to see if this works, so I looked a bit further to see if someone posted the results. Turns out that someone did, and it appears that the results show that the homemade mix is not as effective but did show that it does work to an extent.

This may be a good alternative for pet lovers and people with children that play in the yard.

This is good news to me, as I prefer to use non-hazardous mixtures whenever possible. If I need to apply the homemade concoction a couple of times to achieve the same results, I am happy with the tradeoff.

If you are curious as well, you can look on Youtube and find answers and opinions of others who have compared Roundup and this mixture.

Thanks for reading.
