You could receive a $15,000 grant to help you buy a home anywhere in the counties of Cabarrus, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Rowan and Union counties. If you qualify as active military, veteran or eligible surivng spouse, law enforcement, firefighter, emergency medical technicians, or teacher, you may be eligible to receive an additional $2500 for a total grant amount of $17,500. 

To qualify, your total  income cannot be more than 80% of the area median income and 100% for military, police, fire, EMT and teacher for the county where you would like to buy a home. If more thanone person will be on the mortgage, the sum of your incomes cannot be more than the maximum income limits for your  household size.
