The National Association of Realtors conducts an annual survey of 50,000 real estate professionals to study the market conditions, characteristics of buyers and sellers, and the handling of real estate transactions. The characteristics of a home buyer in todays’ market are outlined below:
Age Distribution of Buyers:
34 and under 30%
35 – 55 45%
56 and over 25%
Living Status of Homebuyers:
Renting 41%
Lived in a property they owned 45%
Lived with parents, relatives, friends 9%
31% of residential sales were first time homebuyers and 21% of residential sales were cash sales, involving no financing.
