McMinn County Tennessee Schools

May 22, 2018

Moving brings the usual challenges, whether it is moving across town or across the country, and all that is involved in the purchase of a new home. If a household has children of school age, information and knowledge on what are the best schools is just as important as other decisions in the buying process.

In Tennessee your child can attend any school in your district (called intra-district choice), and students at low-performing schools, as designated by the state, can attend a different school in their district. Some districts allow students to transfer to schools either in or outside their district (inter-district choice). Children can also attend charter schools. Low-income students are eligible for scholarship funding to attend private schools. Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as "in need of improvement" have the right to attend a higher performing school in the district.

Our county, McMinn County Tennessee ranks 69th of 134 Tennessee districts:

  • 12 primary schools
  • 2 high schools
  • 1 middle schools
  • 2 private schools with mixed grades

Tennessee does offer families a choice in pursuing educational opportunities for their children. This is a positive feature that will enhance the sales value of yours, and the area’s homes.
