Does your homeowner's insurance cover water backups or flood damage from heavy rain? Many area residents of the Metro Detroit area are experiencing flooded basements from the heavy rains. It seems like these torrential rainfalls are happening more often. In August 2014 Southeast Michigan rainfall records were shattered with 4.57" of rain in one day! This rain event was described as a storm that will only happen once in a hundred years. Many people found themselves without adequate insurance to cover the damage. Fast forward to June 2021, and again 6 inches of rain in 24 hours, leaving freeways flooded, streets, and basements. I am not a scientist but these once-in-a-lifetime events are happening more often. If you haven't done so already, call your insurance agent and make sure you have adequate insurance coverage, I am calling my agent today!
