Talk to a Lender- It’s never too early to start speaking with a lender about your future purchase. This allows you to see what your credit looks like and if you meet all the criteria to be pre-approved. This extra time gives you the opportunity to clean up your credit report, if needed, and get the best pre-approval you can. Once pre-approved then you have your starting point when you do start looking at homes. It can be hard when you think you’ve found ‘the one’ and find out it’s out of your price range.

 

Do your research- Take the time to look on your own. If you’re moving to a new area that you are not familiar with it can be hard to know what area is right for you. Driving around potential neighborhoods can give you a good idea of what to expect if you were to live there.

 

Find the Perfect Realtor- Now-a-days there are so many realty companies out there it’s hard to know which to choose. If you don’t already have a realtor in mind, ask friends and family and get feedback. You want an agent that is going to listen to your wants and needs and find that dream home you’ve been looking for.

 

Start looking- Homes come and go off the market so quickly you don’t want to start looking too early; this could be a waste of your time and your agents. If you look too early and aren’t prepared to make an offer, that dream home you saw could be gone by the time you are ready. Wait until you are prepared to make an offer if that perfect home comes up.
