Name That Tune!

April 17, 2017

The title of this blog post probably gives away my age...okay, definitely gives away my age. But some of you may remember the game show Name That Tune!, where contestants, competed to "name that tune" in as few notes as possible.

If we were to play a version of that game today, how many words would it take you to name the following:

... to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all...working to strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers; meet the need for quality affordable rental homes; utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life; build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination...

If you answered "What is HUD's Mission Statement, Alex?" you switched to a different game show. BUT your answer would be correct.

As a (proud) HUD Local Listing Broker, I can name that "tune" (and by tune, I mean mission statement) in six words:

to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities

Then those six wonderful words are followed by another six wonderful words:

and quality affordable homes for all

HUD, through its programs and the sale of its homes, is:

working to strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers;

By partnering with landlords and selling to investors, HUD is working to:

meet the need for quality affordable rental homes;

HUD plans to (This is my favorite):

utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life;

Working everyday for its mission HUD will (Nope, I lied, this one is my favorite):

build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination...

As a HUD broker, I am incredibly inspired by this mission statement. It reminds me over and over again, what we do matters. Helping people buy homes to live in, helping investors purchase rental properties, helps strengthen our communities.
