Keep Your Sidewalks Clear of Snow

Winter is just around the corner and in much of the country this means temperatures below freezing.  With those cold temperatures comes snow, sleet, freezing rain and ice.

None of those things make driving easy.  They also make for the risk of falling while walking on the frozen sidewalks.  This is why it is good to be prepared and take action to protect yourself and others.

Keeping a snow shovel handy is a good idea.  It is best to shovel your walk when the snow is fresh and no one has trampled on it.  Once you have the sidewalk as clean as possible applying salt or some other melting chemical will help clear residue of the ice/snow and allow the sun to help the melting process and sublimation.

Having a clean sidewalk will help keep you and others safer from falling.  Hopefully it won’t be too long before we head back to warmer weather.  But, for now, lets keep our sidewalks and driveways clear.
