Fall Chores For Outdoors

September 15, 2023

It’s that time again.  Time to get things outside of your home ready for the fall.  Here are a few things you can do now while the weather is still nice.

1. Clean or replace your gutters. If they're clogged, you can end up with a flooded interior and damaged exterior. So clean them, and if necessary, replace them.

2. Fertilize your lawn. Roots are still active when the grass isn't growing, so applying fertilizer will prevent winter damage. Doing this will also help your lawn turn green faster in the spring.

3. Drain your outdoor faucets. Drain and disconnect all garden hoses from outside spigots to prevent any water freezing. Not doing this can result in pipes bursting.

4. Fix any cracks in your driveway. When water gets into cracks it freezes, expands, and can make the crack even bigger. Grab some concrete crack sealer and fill the cracks in before the cold weather hits.

5. Test winter equipment.  Check out that snow blower and make sure your shovels are good to go! This is Michigan after all, we will be needing them eventually.

Once the chores are done, grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage, sit back and watch the seasons change.

Happy Fall
