Located between Harden and Kilbourne / Devine and Rosewood, Shandon is one of the top neighborhoods in Columbia. With Prairie style foursquare homes, cottages, and bungalows dating back to the early 1900s, Shandon is also one of the oldest neighborhoods in Columbia.

Being so close to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment districts yet having the benefit of large trees, wide streets, sidewalks, and neighborhood parks, it’s easy to see why this is such a great neighborhood.  Shandon offers residents two family friendly parks. The first, Emily Douglas Park, offers an amphitheater, new state-of-the-art playground, and a dog park. The second, Sims Park, offers a basketball court, picnic areas, and a playground.

 Along with parks, Shandon offers many events throughout the year. Shandon has a yard of the month program which honors homes in the neighborhood with beautiful yards. Each month a yard is chosen by a group of volunteers.

The Turkey trot is held every year in Shandon. It is a 4k/8k run/walk which has been held for over 30 years and benefits the Shandon Neighborhood Council. Homes for the Holidays is another event that the Shandon Neighborhood takes part in. Held every year in December, this is an opportunity to tour homes in the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods beautifully decorated for the Holidays. Proceeds from this event benefit local schools.  Movie nights, Concerts in the Park, and area festivals are just a few more things offered in and around Shandon neighborhood.

It’s easy to see why Shandon is one of the most desirable areas in Columbia, come take a walk, bring the family and a picnic and enjoy all this neighborhood has to offer.
