Radon Gas What You Should Know

Radon is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. Testing is the only way to determine if a home has an elevated level of Radon. The EPA estimates 1 in 15 homes in the US have unsafe levels of Radon. Radon is a colorless, odorless and tastless radioactive gas formed by the breakdown of uranium found in soil rock and groundwater. When released into the outdoor air it is diluted into low concentrations and is not a concern. Within homes the Radon can become trapped where it builds up over time. Any home can have a Radon problem and needs to be tested to verify amount trapped. This can be done by a qualified home inspector
