Another winter is almost gone, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow so supposedly spring will
arrive soon! Here is South Carolina, we have begun the pre spring weather roller coaster, one day warm
the next day freezing! Now is the time to start thinking about our Spring Home maintenance, but where
to start?
A google search brings up many sites with good information and check lists. Begin with the outside of
your home. Now’s the time to prune certain plants like roses, hedges, and ornamental grasses, check
information on specific plants, if in doubt ask a nursery. Its’ also time to put down a good pre-emergent
on your grass to get ahead of the spring weeds and to have a beautiful lawn. Check and clean your
gutters, reseal exterior wood that has weathered such as wooden fences and decks, also check for any
signs of termites. Check your screen doors and windows for any holes or tears, these can be replaced
inexpensively. In the south one of the most used items in late spring and all summer, sometimes into
the fall, is our air conditioners, now is the time to have it inspected and serviced. Last but not least
don’t forget your grill, it’s almost time for bar-b-que parties! Make sure your grill is up to the task.
Spring is more than just cleaning the inside of the house, it’s also about maintenance to the outside to
ensure that your home stays in tip top shape!
