13 Ways to Make Your Home Smell Amazing!

April 05, 2018

Everyone knows there are problem areas in your home that you just can’t seem to get to smell good! The kitchen and bathrooms are known for bad smells whether it’s the trash cans, garbage disposal, or musty towels and mats. We have compiled some great tips to help keep your home smelling fresh and clean!

  1. Add a few drops of essential oil inside your toilet paper roll. This will release a fresh scent every time it’s used.
  2. Fill your toilet brush holder with Pine-sol or your favorite cleaner. This will get rid of germs and odors your toilet brush may be harboring.
  3. Take scented air freshener beads, artificial flowers, and a pretty mason jar for a decorative air freshener that can be used anywhere in your home.
  4. Pouring vinegar in the water tank of your toilets will help them smell fresh again. Pour in one cup and flush a few times; don’t let it sit in your tank for long periods.
  5. Do you have smelly towels, bath mats, or musty gym clothes? Use vinegar and baking soda when washing. This will make your washer and dryer smell better too!
  6. Put a few drops of essential oil on your furnace filter every time you change it to get a subtle scent throughout your home.
  7. Smelly garbage disposal? Make lemon and vinegar ice cubes to put down the drain!
  8. Hanging dry herbs is an easy and cheap way to make your home smell wonderful. They not only act as an air freshener but can also add some lovely décor.
  9. Try freshening plants. Air cleansing plants such as aloe help rid smelly toxins from the air.
  10. Tired of that awful smell coming from your trash can? Put an old newspaper at the bottom to absorb leaks and smells. Try putting a dryer sheet at the bottom to give off a fresh scent.
  11. Fill a small mason jar with baking soda and essential oils; poke holes in the lid for an easy air freshener.
  12. Sprinkle baking soda mixed with lavender oil all over your carpet if it smells a little stale.
  13. Clean your walls! This one is typically forgotten, but your walls are exposed to everything in your home including dust, dirt, dander, etc. Take an old Swiffer and a microfiber cloth; soak cloth in a warm water, Pine-sol, and ammonia mixture, and mop your walls. This will make your home smell fresh and clean. You will want to make sure you have non-washable paint for this one.
