An Easy Fix to A Leaky Basement That Often Works with Little Expense and NO Digging!

Having a leaky basement can be very distressing.  Often companies will charge thousands of dollars to dig up the outside of your basement down to the basement floor level.  Other times they may chop  out the bottom part of your wall on the inside and put a drain system in.

There is a much easier and very inexpensive fix that works Much of the time.  Here is what you do:

Make sure the ground for about 6 feet from your basement is basically level.

Bring in dirt and angle it about 5 inches higher that the surrounding ground at the basement wall on the outside sloping it to the level over 4 feet.

Finally make sure that the down spouts are 4 feet long and have splash trays under the end.

This works because many basement leaks are due to water running against the outside of the basement wall then down causing the leak inside.  The causes the water to run away from the outside wall and often this stops the leak entirely.
